7000 pointed!!!

Well 7004/1752 that is. I thought I'd get there earlier than I did, but being deployed doesn't help my ability to play the game all that much haha. I'm currently at 7468/1761 attack. Oh what fun. Working on block now by the way, it's at 1580. Not sure where I'll take it to.

I now have the highest stealth sneaking inside at 1012. I'm not sure what Metallica has. I am thinking about continuing to raise it up, no one really has that high of stealth sneaking, and it determines the rate at which backstabs do or do not land. With 1500 each inside and outside I don't see how I could miss them. Unfortunately, I really need to start raising up my ot.st again to get my hp higher.

So, anyways, I was really pissed off after my last death, lost a LOT of exp, stupidly too. So now that I've had a mandatory wait period for being that angry, here's the death statistics:

Last Death

Died to: Angelic Protector
Time: June 2, 2005
Reason for Death: I dragged about 10 of them into the entryway to Valley of Light, then I was in an argument in another window on Alamak and I got banned, so I was trying to find a proxy address to get back into the chat and not paying any attention to the Tharsis window and right as I clicked back over, I died. Someone had gone into VoL and now I had all 18 VoL mobs in the room. Every one of them was at least at wounded, and I had two Staffs of Ginor that I hadn't even used BAH!!
Exp Lost: 136,000,000
Stat Lost: Int
Coins Lost: None, church, drank a few potions I had been saving, went back right away to get my gear and coins.

I've been focused on raising stealth sneaking again, to further upgrade my backstabbing abilities. Metallica has 1100 or so, and his opinion is that it doesn't make much of a difference, but because the backstab is such a valuable asset to a thief, I'm going to raise it to 1000. Right now:

sneaking 853/ 611
inside 833/ 604
outside 873/ 618

My next 40 is roughly 60 million, so you can see, it's going to be an exp-ensive goal to reach. I think our thieves get screwed when it comes to landing backstabs anyway, considering, but hey, you already know my feelings on that haha.
KOU Black Gear vs Ksehn (ranger) stat gear

I have been using ranger stat gear for quite awhile now. A big problem is the difficulty to kill Ksehn. As a thief, I am at a distinct disadvantage because I have no ability to heal myself. I would guess it takes me about 8 rounds to kill him, and that means landing at least half of my backstabs, something that is especially tough with him.

With 1500 block, KoU is actually easy to kill now. I never thought I'd be able to say that. I have him bleeding after one round, then most often I end up killing him with my hp at about 1000 in the second round. I finally solved the... quest, if that's the right word for it, to get the piece you have to find to get to KoU, so my big concern now is this: do I use KoU black gear or ranger stat gear?

Black gear is black boots (shimmering) and the black plate for me. I don't use the black shield because Irongrip's shield is a light source. This is another toss up for me, do I use Irongrip's for both my shield and light source and just deal with the lower defense, or use the black shield and carry a light source. I believe the weight of the black shield and light source makes up for any extra weight the Irongrip weighs. Stat gear is jerkin of the raven, boots of the fox, gloves of the bear, and armour of the ox.

Black gear has significantly higher defensive value than does stat gear. When combatting cammy guards, VoL mobs, etc, I don't lose near the hp that I do while wearing ranger stat gear. However, this defensive bonus does not seem to matter against big mobs like Savendra, Kehlgarand, and mobs of that level. For mobs like that, the stat bonus ranger gear gives seems to allow you to last longer while combatting them. Any mobs under that level though, such as KoU himself, guardian of the ancients, old crazy man (banana), I can last longer wearing black gear while fighting them.

I imagine my best bet is some sort of combination of the two, but that would mean killing both ranger and KoU, a stout task for a thief. Unless I have 6 hours or more to play, going after ranger sometimes just isn't worthwhile. And after playing a few days with KoU gear, I actually think the defense bonus for just doing exp'ing and stab runs is better than the stat bonus from ranger. Of course this is all a work in progress.

Santa Gear is GONE!

And to be perfectly honest, I was getting burned out from using it. Thieves don't really use their GP for much, so I was doing all stabs the entire time, then doing a few backstabbing runs thru Elfrea.

What did all this get me?

4 Hp
11 Gp
8 levels
24 glevels
283 pointed
337 attack
25 edged
6 sneaking
6 sn.inside
6 sn.outside

Oh, my block is at 1414 or something like that, I raised it about 40 by randomly training from Issac and Metallica anytime my exp got high enough, I just didn't want to lose it to any Santa mobs. I didn't die during christmas this year, that was good.
